As we continue our journey to becoming the best everyday bank in the Nordics, we’re seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Data Platform Engineer to join our team and play a key role in developing our next-generation Lunar real-time data platform. Our focus is on building a scalable, reliable, and performant data ecosystem that powers our banking operations, enables data-driven decision-making, and supports our "Data First" strategy.

This hands-on role offers significant impact in shaping the future of our platform. You’ll work closely within our cross‑functional team of data platform and analytics engineers, bringing your expertise and fresh perspectives to design, implement, and optimize modern streaming data platform technologies.

This role is especially suited to those who thrive on continuous learning, are curious about emerging data technologies, and embrace a growth mindset to drive innovation and improvement.

What will you do?

• Pipeline Development: Design, build, and maintain robust and scalable streaming data pipelines using modern data technologies such as Flink, Kafka and Fluss based on our event-sourced microservices architecture.

• 
  Solution Implementation: Collaborate with the team to implement cutting-edge data solutions, ensuring they meet business requirements and performance targets.
  
  

• Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists, data analysts, product managers, and other engineering teams to understand their needs and deliver effective solutions.
  
  

• Code Quality: Uphold high standards for code quality and best practices through participation in code reviews and contributing to our shared codebase.
  
  

• Performance and Optimization: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks within the data platform to ensure our systems meet service-level agreements (SLAs).
  
  

• Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
  
  

• Innovation: Stay current with the latest trends and advancements in data engineering and cloud technologies, and actively contribute to the evolution of our data platform.

• Required:
  - Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  - Proficient in at least one programming language (Python, Java/Scala, Go, etc) plus advanced SQL (CTEs, window functions).
  - Hands‑on experience building and maintaining data pipelines with tools such as Apache Airflow, Spark or Flink, Apache Kafka, and dbt.
  - Experience with OLAP database technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Clickhouse, Starrocks).
  - Proficiency working with at least one of AWS/GCP/Azure.
  - Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
  
  

• Nice-to-have:
  - Experience with infrastructure-as-code, especially Terraform
  - Familiarity with Kubernetes and managing containerized workloads
  - Understanding of event-driven architectures and distributed systems design
  - Proven experience in designing, building, and implementing large-scale streaming data pipelines
  - Experience with open table formats such as Iceberg, Delta, Hudi or Paimon
