Engineering Manager, Data Platform
Banking hasn't changed much in decades. We're changing that. One product at a time.
Lunar is a Nordic challenger bank building the future of financial life with AI at the core. Our engineers, designers, and product people work on problems that actually matter. Making money simpler, smarter, and more rewarding for a million of registered users across the Nordics.
Fully licensed and founded in 2015, with offices in Copenhagen, Aarhus and Stockholm.
We move fast, we build with purpose, and we're just getting started.
As our new Engineering Manager you'll join the Data Platform & Governance squad, reporting to Jesper, working to build the clean, well-governed data infrastructure that powers analytics, AI, and regulatory reporting across Lunar — with a clear end-state, not accumulated scope.
What will you do?
Lead and grow the Data Platform & Governance squad — setting the engineering culture, building psychological safety, and making sure your people do the best work of their careers.
Own the performance and development of 5–10 engineers — through regular 1:1s, clear feedback loops, and growth plans that connect individual ambitions to what Lunar is building.
Drive the squad's core mission: delivering reliable data pipelines, storage, and modelling that the whole organisation can trust and build on.
Define and raise the bar on data governance and quality standards across Lunar — partnering with the Insights & Data team to draw a clear boundary between infrastructure and analytics.
Enable Lunar's AI ambitions by ensuring data is structured, accessible, and ready — working closely with product and engineering squads who depend on what your team produces.
What are we looking for in you?
2–5 years of experience as an Engineering Manager — you've led engineering teams before and know what good people management looks like in practice.
A strong instinct for balancing people and delivery — you care about your team and you know how to help them ship.
Experience in data engineering, data platform, or data infrastructure — you understand what it takes to build systems other teams depend on.
Comfortable operating in a space that's being actively defined — you're energised by co-creating the mission and end-state rather than inheriting a fully-formed roadmap.
Clear, direct communicator who builds relationships across engineering, product, and business stakeholders — you bring people along rather than managing around them.
What you get.
4 days in the office. We're a team that builds together, thinks together, and moves together. Showing up is part of how we work.
State of the art equipment. The newest computer, monitor, mouse, and keyboard. We want you to do your best work without anything slowing you down.
Pension, health insurance, and enhanced parental leave. From your financial future to your family moments. We've got you covered.
