Staff Software Engineer - Lead Architect Data Platform
Want to own the future of banking data? We're looking for a visionary Staff Engineer, Data Platform Lead Architect, to define the technical strategy and roadmap for our data platform. This highly strategic role offers the chance to architect our entire data domain, working closely with key stakeholders and directly impacting Lunar's evolution. Ready for a challenge that's more than just rebuilding the status quo?
At Lunar we are democratizing the power of money and changing the way we all bank, pay, and invest. Since starting in Aarhus in 2015, we've grown rapidly and are now a major player in the Nordics, with offices in Copenhagen, Aarhus and Stockholm 🚀
So who are we? Are we a tech company or a bank? Well, we're both, breaking free from the usual categories. Here, tech isn't just a cool add-on; it's the core of how we do things. With our own banking license, we go head-to-head with traditional banks. What sets us apart is the mix of tech and financial services, giving us the power to shake up a dusty industry that's ready for a change.
As our new Staff Engineer, Data Platform Lead Architect, you will be located in either Copenhagen or Aarhus, and report to Rolf Njor Jensen, Director of Technology.
You will be responsible for providing technical strategy, direction, and roadmaps for the data area, assessing various approaches while considering business constraints. This role requires strong communication skills to work effectively with various stakeholders. You will be a technical leader, mentor, and a key contributor to the team's success, leveraging your deep understanding of distributed systems, cloud technologies, and modern data processing frameworks.
What will you do?
Driven by our board-approved “Data First” strategy, our data platform under your guidance will evolve to enable the next level of banking operations efficiency and deliver the aggregated data needs to power AI based hyper personalization for our customers. You will extend a platform engineering mindset into the data area.
Architectural Vision: Evolve and champion the long-term vision and roadmap for the data platform, aligning it with business needs and emerging technologies.
Solution Design: Design and implement scalable, reliable, and performant data solutions leveraging event-sourced microservices architecture in AWS.
Technology Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the data platform team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Technology Evaluation: Research, evaluate, and recommend new technologies and tools to enhance the data platform's capabilities.
Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to understand their data needs and translate them into technical requirements.
Performance Optimization: Identify and address performance bottlenecks, ensuring the data platform meets SLAs and performance targets.
Code Reviews: Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to best practices.
Stay Current: Stay abreast of the latest trends and advancements in data architecture and cloud technologies.
We're excited to welcome everyone to apply for this impactful role! We can’t wait to follow up with talents who we believe are the best fit based on the following criteria:
Experience in designing and implementing large-scale data platforms.
Understanding of event-sourced microservices architecture and distributed systems.
Strong experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS.
Experience with modern OLAP database technologies and toolchains such as: Flink, Kafka, Iceberg, Superset, Domo, Snowflake, Databricks, Clickhouse, etc.
